Motion Tech Expo launches to give the sector a dedicated home again

Motion Tech Expo 2028

DFA Media Group has announced the launch of Motion Tech Expo (5-6 April 2028), a new exhibition aimed at filling a gap in the UK engineering events calendar and giving the motion technology sector a dedicated platform of its own once again.

Taking place at the NEC alongside MACH, Motion Tech Expo marks a return to familiar territory for the publishing and events group, whose team has decades of experience bringing the UK’s engineering and manufacturing sectors together.

The new exhibition will cover motion, drives, fluid power, industrial automation, compressed air, monitoring and analytics, and clean energy, reflecting the way manufacturing operates today, where these technologies increasingly work together to improve productivity, efficiency and sustainability.

For DFA Media Group, the launch represents an opportunity to re-establish a dedicated meeting place for a sector that has traditionally played an important role in the UK’s industrial exhibition calendar, while developing an event that reflects the technologies, challenges and opportunities facing manufacturers.

Ryan Fuller, Managing Director of DFA Media Group, explained: “Every industry deserves an event it can call its own. Over recent years, there has been a real gap in the market for the motion technology sector, and we’ve had countless conversations with manufacturers, suppliers and industry partners who wanted to see that change.

“Motion Tech Expo has been created to give the industry a dedicated platform once again, one that brings together technology, expertise and practical learning in an environment built specifically for this community.

“We want this to be somewhere engineers can see technology working, discuss their challenges with people who understand them and explore solutions that could make a real difference to their businesses. It’s about bringing the industry together and making those opportunities available right here, right now.”

The exhibition will be structured around four key technology pillars: Drives, Motion & Fluid Power; Air Systems & Efficiency; Monitoring, Data & Analytics; and Hydrogen & Clean Energy. Together, these reflect some of the most important areas influencing industrial performance, bringing together the equipment, systems and expertise that manufacturers rely on to improve productivity, reliability and energy efficiency.

Alongside the exhibition, visitors will have access to a comprehensive seminar programme featuring expert insight into the technical and operational challenges facing industry, as well as a dedicated association hub designed to encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing and closer engagement between industry bodies and the wider engineering community.

Practical demonstrations and opportunities for hands-on interaction with equipment and software will also play an important role, allowing visitors to explore how technologies work in real industrial applications.

An important aspect of Motion Tech Expo will be its emphasis on how these technologies increasingly work together. Motion systems, compressed air, clean energy and industrial data are closely connected within manufacturing operations, with advances in monitoring, analytics and intelligent software providing new opportunities to improve efficiency, anticipate maintenance requirements and make better-informed operational decisions.

By bringing these disciplines together, the new event aims to give visitors a broader understanding of how individual technologies contribute to overall industrial performance and how their integration can support more reliable, efficient and sustainable operations over the longer term.
