COPA-DATA, a software company, closed the 2023 financial year with sales growth of approximately 25%, reaching a turnover of €87 million. With key focuses on sustainability, modular production, and digitalisation, the company has positioned itself as a global partner for the manufacturing industry.

Compared to the previous year, COPA-DATA increased its global group revenue from €69.4 million in 2022 to €87.0 million in 2023. Phillip Werr, Member of the Management Board, attributed this success to the collective efforts of all employees, stating that the new sales record reflects an increasing reliance on their software by users worldwide.

The company’s contributions towards sustainability are evident in the efficiency gains observed on the customer side, with energy savings leading to significant reductions in CO2 emissions. Over 300,000 installations of the zenon software platform are currently in use across industrial companies and the energy sector globally, with more than 30,000 licenses sold in the past year alone.

To further bolster its sustainability expertise, COPA-DATA expanded its industrial management team for Food & Beverage in 2023 to include solutions focused on sustainability. Led by Emilian Axinia, an expert with over 25 years of experience in industrial automation, the team is dedicated to developing cross-industry solutions supporting manufacturing companies in their journey towards Net Zero.

Internally, COPA-DATA is also committed to sustainability efforts, including optimising energy consumption at its headquarters in Salzburg using the zenon software platform. Additionally, all COPA-DATA locations worldwide have been CO2-compensating since 2023, with greenhouse gas emissions fully offset by supporting environmental projects.

Recognisd for its sustainability initiatives, COPA-DATA has been certified as a climate protection partner by ClimatePartner. The company’s participation as an Associate Partner in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos underscores its commitment to exploring innovative approaches to reducing CO2 emissions and increasing production and infrastructure efficiency.

In addition to economic and environmental considerations, COPA-DATA prioritises social responsibility, including the training of young employees. Recognised by the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce as the best training company in 2023, COPA-DATA’s commitment to developing qualified specialists contributes to the regional economy and community.

The next generation of leadership has also emerged within COPA-DATA, with CEO and founder Thomas Punzenberger’s sons, Felix and Lukas, assuming responsibilities within the family business. Lukas Punzenberger, as Director of Product Management, is driving zenon’s development, while Felix Punzenberger leads the Professional Services, Content & Templates team.
