Scaling up Physical AI to become a global leader in humanoid robotics

With the opening of its new factory Wandercraft aims to become the global leader in humanoid robotics

Wandercraft has announced it is scaling up its Physical AI with Calvin-40 to become the global leader in humanoid robotics.

The French AI and robotics company says it has signed twelve major industrial accounts in less than a year, with Renault announcing a first deployment of 350 robots as early as 2027. Inaugurated on 5th October 2026, its new Paris headquarters brings together R&D, production and maintenance to support this industrial ramp-up. Wandercraft says it is targeting a production rate of one robot per hour and has set a goal of producing one million robots a year.

With the development of Calvin, Wandercraft says it  is deploying its Physical AI technology on factory floors. This autonomous humanoid robot can lift up to 40 kg and take on heavy, repetitive tasks in the hardest-to-fill positions in industry and logistics. Operating without a teleoperator, it draws on Wandercraft’s twelve years of expertise in exoskeletons. Its industrial deployment at Renault illustrates its potential in real-world conditions. A future version will aim for a load capacity of 50kg.

Thanks to its 3D vision, autonomous navigation and adaptive control, Calvin perceives its environment and adapts its movements to move cartons and crates, handle heavy loads and carry them between workstations. It integrates into existing facilities without requiring changes to their infrastructure. The goal: to reduce physical strain and allow teams to focus on tasks that call on their expertise.

Developed on Wandercraft’s proprietary physical AI platform, Calvin benefits from the partnership with Renault Group to accelerate its industrialisation and large-scale production.

Matthieu Masselin, CEO and co-founder of Wandercraft: “We are now the global leader in our historic market. We are scaling up to become the global leader in humanoid robotics, with 12 blue-chip clients signed in less than 12 months and 350 humanoid robots deployed next year.”

Wandercraft says it is strengthening its production capacity with its new 4,300 m² Paris headquarters. The site brings together R&D, production and maintenance, with 800 m² dedicated to assembling, storing and maintaining the robots, and a production capacity of one robot per hour.

Wandercraft says it has set a target of producing one million robots a year. To reach this scale, it is betting on a production base that is largely European and globally competitive.

The company says the acquisition of Ekso Bionics, announced on 1st October 2026, positions it as the global leader in medical exoskeletons, its historic market. It strengthens the company’s presence in the United States and extends its expertise from rehabilitation in care centres to everyday personal mobility with Eve, designed to support wheelchair users as they move around at home. Together, Atalante X and EksoNR are used in more than 700 rehabilitation centres worldwide.
